An interior fit-out that removes two internal walls and lets one continuous living space run the width of the apartment.
The original plan divided the front of the apartment into three small rooms, none of which worked hard. Taking out two non-structural partitions produced a single space that runs from the kitchen to the terrace doors, with the functions separated by joinery and level rather than by walls.
Design intent
The idea the project is built on.
Fewer rooms, better rooms. The gain here was in removal, not addition.
Spatial planning
How the plan is arranged.
A long joinery wall absorbs storage, services and the television, which let every other surface in the room stay clear.
Interior
Inside the building.
Warm neutrals, woven light fittings and a single dark anchor piece per zone. Nothing in the palette competes with the terrace planting.
Materials
What it is made of.
- Oak veneer
- Continuous joinery wall
- Micro-cement
- Floors throughout
- Cane
- Pendant shades and screen inserts
Construction
Partition removal was carried out after a structural check confirmed both walls were non-load-bearing.
Outcome
A flat that now reads as one bright room facing the terrace.
